Sommer shares how she has a love of humanitarian work from a young age. She acknowledges that racism is systemic; there is a need to collect race-based data and look at the role of intersectionality. She voices that we are all capable of change and we can come together to thrive.
Sommer Knight is a Vanier Scholar and doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa. Her clinical work is centered on children, adolescents and families. She recently published a children’s book with her colleagues titled “Today is a Rainy Day” and she aims to bring increased awareness to children’s mental health. Her research interests include intersectionality, culture, pathways to care and mental health disparities.
